Peru, the mine at all costs

The documentary “Peru, the mine at all costs” was filmed by the Justice and Peace Commission in February 2016 in Peru. More specifically in Lima, in the region of Cusco and Apurimac.

This documentary is linked to the more complete educational file “ Gold at all costs“.

The documentary addresses the role of mining activity in Peru and its impacts on local populations. Peru relies largely on the extraction of mineral resources as the engine of its development. But at what cost ? Are the balance of power balanced between local communities, businesses and the State? Does mining activity serve the development of all or does it only benefit a minority?

Goals :

  • Inform and raise awareness widely on the theme
  • Giving visibility to the problem of social conflicts in Peru
  • Initiate reflection on alternatives to intensive extraction of natural resources
  • Bring a visual dimension to the educational tool Gold at all costs? of the Justice and Peace Commission

Duration :

33 minutes

How to obtain it physically?

The documentary inserted in an informative accompanying booklet is available from Justice et Paix at the price of 7 euros.
