On this first day of the Belgian Presidency of the European Union, Justice and Peace wishes to draw attention to the role that Belgium must continue to play on the international scene, despite the great internal institutional challenge that awaits our country at following the elections of June 13, 2010.
We have chosen here to present to you two analyzes on themes on which Justice and Peace develops widely recognized expertise, based in particular on the collaboration that we maintain with social organizations from the South and the North. The demands that emerge from the following two documents are therefore brought forward by actors on the ground. -“Role of Belgium on the major issues of the DRC: Analysis and recommendations of Justice and Peace on the eve of the Belgian Presidency of the European Union”, analysis resulting from a meeting organized on March 22, 2010 by Justice and Peace 1 which brought together Belgian and Congolese national experts as well as Belgian and European Union political representatives. – “NATO’s new strategic concept: the need for a democratic debate”, analysis resulting from a joint reflection with the CNAPD (National Coordination of Action for Peace and Democracy), of which Justice and Peace is a member .
